Duxbury

Alden House 1653
The Town of Duxbury is a coastal community located approximately 33 miles south of Boston in Plymouth County. The town was the center of shipbuilding until the mid 19th century, when ships became to large for its shallow bay. Many historical and beautiful homes are preserved such as the John Alden house from Pilgrim times. There are also many homes from Duxbury's shipbuilding times. Duxbury was mainly a rural and summer community until Route 3 made daily commuting to Boston possible. Presently Duxbury has become a residential suburb of Boston .
