The City of Newton is located approximately 6 miles west of Boston. Originally part of Cambridge, Newton was settled in 1630 and incoporated in 1688. Newton is bounded on three sides by the Charles River and is a diverse community comprised of 14 villages.Each village has a unique character, Auburndale, Chestnut Hill, Four Corners, Newton Centre, Newton Corner, Newton Highlands, Newton Lower Falls, Newton Upper Falls, Newtonville, Nonantum, Oak Hill,Thomsonville,and Waban. Newton has well maintained parks, a public pool, lake, and golf course. In 1993 Newton was one of 5 cities nationwide with a population over 50,000 to receive the US Conference of Mayors' Livability Award. For more information click City of Newton
